Australian actress and writer Rebel Wilson has dominated the internet in recent days, after promotion of her forthcoming memoir Rebel Rising landed an A-lister in very hot water.

When talking about her new book on Instagram on 15 March, 44-year-old Wilson explained that her work in Hollywood has led to her adopting a ‘no a**hole’s’ policy, spurred on by her allegations of uncomfortable experiences with an actor on a film set.

Wilson confirmed she had dedicated an entire chapter of her book to this.

"Now the a**hole is trying to threaten me," she said. “He’s hired a crisis PR manager and lawyers. He’s trying to stop press coming out about my new book.

“The book WILL come out and you will all know the truth.”

Her comments were set alight with people trying to work out who Wilson was referring to, and sending her messages of support.

Fans didn’t have long to wait though, as it was soon confirmed by Wilson that the man in question is Sacha Baron Cohen, creator of Borat and Ali G.

Wilson took to Instagram again to address the situation head on, saying: “I will not be bullied or silenced by high priced lawyers or PR crisis managers.

Rebel Wilson said she will spill the tea in chapter 23 of Rebel Rising.

“The “a**hole” that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen.”

Wilson and Baron Cohen worked together on the set of 2016 film The Brothers Grimsby.

Wilson was cast as the love interest of Nobby, played by Baron Cohen.

Since then, a spokesperson for Baron Cohen told the Hollywood Reporter: “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”

Wilson has since spoken out again, posting today (27 March) on her Instagram Stories: “Thanks so much to everyone who has sent gorgeous messages of support in the last few days and to those who shared with me their stories of this a**hole!

“Don’t worry I won’t be bullied or threatened by this guy! And I am working hard behind the scenes to make sure my book comes out!

“Ps my book is not ABOUT this guy - this is one chapter!”

Since Wilson’s statements regarding Sacha Baron Cohen, her Instagram account has been flooded with comments.

One person wrote: “Thank you for sticking up for yourself and thank you for sticking up for all the women in the world in that book. And plus you look beautiful.”

Another said: “Can't wait to read.”

Tyla has reached out to representatives of Sacha Baron Cohen for comment.
