Fans of Pamela Anderson have rushed to her defence this week, after the much-loved model was slammed for sporting a make-up-free look for a magazine cover.

The 58-year-old Canadian graced the front page of PEOPLE magazine's latest edition, posing in a blue cable-knit jumper, curled blonde hair and a totally fresh face.

This is far from the first time that Anderson has made a bare-faced public appearance, initially going make-up-free during Paris Fashion Week in 2023, surprising onlookers with her naturally glowy skin and bare lashes.

"I really didn't know anyone would notice it, but I'm glad it became a positive message," she told press at the time. "I don't have to be cool anymore. I can just be me. It's very freeing to be comfortable in your own skin."

In the years since, it has become somewhat of a rarity to see her in full glam - something that critics have seemingly gotten bored with already.

Following her latest magazine cover, one reader complained that the ex-Playboy star was failing to mix things up.

"I get that she's doing the 'no makeup' thing, and I feel like everyone is kinda walking on eggshells here with this," they wrote. "But this ain't always the best look for her honestly.

"Like, most times, a touch more dramatic makeup would do her well."

Another agreed: "I agree. I’d love to see her show up to an event with makeup and let’s see something different."

Thankfully, however, it didn't take long for fans of Anderson to jump to her defence, with many insisting that she has never looked more beautiful.

One person hit back at the latter remark: "Maybe just maybe women don’t have to make their choices based on what is the 'best look' for them and what makes them happy and comfortable and feel good is more important."

Another Reddit user gushed: "She looks better without makeup, in my opinion."

A third agreed: "As a man, I feel like most women (and men) do. I also feel like most people look better without plastic surgery."

Discussing her decision to don a fresh-faced look for her high-profile shoot, she claimed: "I don't do the 'no makeup makeup'. I do the 'no makeup'."

Anderson went on to explain: "I think people are starting to look more alike these days. But that has a lot to do with AI and social media and filters. I just never want to get caught up in that trap.

"I would want to jump off the crazy train, and just - well, I don't know if I've jumped off the crazy train. I still have fun, but I don't want to look like anybody else. I want to look like me."

Of the potential to shake things up going forward, the mother-of-two admitted: "I will probably do a little bit of makeup for my next role, but we'll experiment with that, because I find it's hard to find a middle ground.

"Like, a big makeup look, theatrical, blue eyeshadow and sparkles and glitter, or nothing. In the middle, I feel like it's just like, 'Huh?'"

She added: "I try and forgive myself too for worrying so much as a younger person, or following trends. I want to be a trend-setter.

"I wouldn't want to be a trend follower."

Anderson has previously spoken about the reason she's embraced the natural look, telling Elle Magazine that it came shortly after losing her close friend and makeup artist, Alexis Vogel, to breast cancer in 2019.

"She was the best," she shared. "And since then, I just felt, without Alexis, it’s just better for me not to wear makeup."
