Adrien Brody has bold four-word reaction to Oscars trying to cut his speech after winning Best Actor

Adrien Brody won Best Actor in a Lead Role for his performance in The Brutalist

After being announced as the 2025 winner in the Best Actor category at this year's Academy Awards, Adrien Brody's acceptance speech took an unexpected turn.

A four-word statement uttered by the Hollywood veteran - who received the accolade following his stellar performance in devastating drama The Brutalist - has subsequently caused quite the stir online.

For those in need of a reminder, 51-year-old Brody was up against a plethora of huge-name stars this year - including Timothée Chalamet for his role in A Complete Unknown, Colman Domingo for Sing Sing, Ralph Fiennes for Conclave, and Sebastian Stan for The Apprentice.

It ended up being two-time Oscar-winner Brody's year, however, and after his name was read out by 2024 winner Cillian Murphy - who won the same award last year for his role in Oppenheimer - he took to the stage.

Brody subsequently kicked off his speech by thanking the team who made The Brutalist the success story it turned out to be.

Then, after thanking his girlfriend Georgina Chapman and her children for their support, producers of the star-studded soiree began playing the melody that indicates to award winners that it's time to start wrapping up their speeches.

It was then that Brody issued a damning statement about the move, demanding viewers stop the music and declaring: "I've done this before."

The actor was referencing the Best Actor award he won back in 2003 for his role in Roman Polanski's war-drama The Pianist.

And as we say, Brody's request seemingly left thousands of viewers watching from home utterly starstruck.

One subsequently wrote on X (formerly Twitter): "Adrien Brody telling the #Oscars to turn the music off is such a power move. Respect."

Another gushed: "'Cut the music off….I’ve done this before'! Flex on Adrien!"

"Adrien Brody getting them to stop playing the music was lowkey a serve lemme not lie, that’s a diva right there," a third continued.

Another wrote: "Adrien said cut that music off LMAOOOO"

And with a stream of laughing emojis, another viewer added: "Adrien Brody said cut the music!"
