Queer Eye's Jonathan Van Ness might just be realising the perils of making a joke on the internet after his latest Olympics post.

The presenter sent his fans into meltdown after posting a tongue-in-cheek video now the countdown to Los Angeles 2028 has begun.

When the flag was passed from France to the US and it was announced that Los Angeles will host the 2028 Olympic Games, everyone was excited to see what it would bring.

I mean, it was Tom Cruise going all Mission Impossible for the announcement, so it was clearly going to get fans excited.

However, one celeb thought that this would be their time to shine, and they quickly posted a video to their social media platform to joke about their entry into the Games.

The Queer Eye fashionista decided to show off his gymnastic skills in the clip, and people were amazed by their skills.

In the caption, they wrote a hilarious announcement that they’ve been chosen to enter the USA Gymnastics trials, in preparation for the Games in four years.

But it went a little too far.

The caption read: “I’ve been waiting for this announcement until after the Paris Olympics had finished, as to not take away from the incredible success of USA Gymnastics.

"I’m beyond excited to finally share that I will begin training for the 2028 US Gymnastics Trials, 2028 USA Team and the @la28games. @teamusa has been following my journey and growth as a gymnast and showed up at my house to personally invite me to train to be a potential member of their 2028 team.

“While I hate taking a slot away from 2028 potentials like @simonebiles & @stephen_nedoroscik (as it appears quite obvious I’ll make whichever team I attempt to), I do think at 37 this is my last shot to make a serious attempt at this team.

"I am honored at the potential to represent @teamusa in our own country, and bring several gold medals home for us.

"While this training will take serious time and energy, I promise this will not take away from @jvnhair & @curiouswithjvn. Can’t wait to see you all in LA!”

However, not everyone knew it was satire and were fully on board with Jonathan taking his spot on the podium in 2028.

Fans took to Instagram underneath his video to share their words of encouragement and congratulations, and it’s seriously hilarious, yet heartwarming.

One person wrote: “Wait for real? This is so amazing! I’m here for the whole journey.”

Another commented: “YASSSS Come on Jonathan!I I’d 100% buy cereal with your face on it. Also, your personal montage would be fierce AF.”

Someone else said: “Wow! Congratulations! Beautiful flips! Hope to cheer you on in four years! :)”

A fourth chimed in: “What!!!???????? Congrats !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can’t wait to see your journey. Thank you for sharing your dreams with us.”

Finally, someone wrote: “It’s the front tucked shirt to hold the tummy in that makes this video for me. I’m here for JVN on the podium in 2028!!”

So, maybe they now have to actually try out?
