Matthew Perry’s death has been ruled an accident from the 'acute effects of ketamine', the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner confirmed.

The 54-year-old was found dead at his home in Los Angeles on Saturday 28 October.

"We are heartbroken by the tragic loss of our beloved son and brother,” his family said in a statement.

"Matthew brought so much joy to the world, both as an actor and a friend."

The County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner has now confirmed the cause of Perry's death, following the results of an autopsy.

A post-mortem examination concluded that the Friends actor died from the 'acute effects of ketamine', also listing contributing factors that included 'drowning, coronary artery disease and the effects of buprenorphine' – a drug used to treat opioid use disorder.
