Louis Tomlinson addresses Harry Styles romance conspiracy theory revealing he had 'realisation'

The two have been romantically linked by fans for over a decade

I’m not saying I’m old, but it does feel like a million years ago since One Direction were taking over the world.

The boy band, made up of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, was created on The X Factor back in 2010. They ultimately came third in the competition - but were undoubtedly the break out stars after signing to Simon Cowell’s record label Syco.

The singers of 'What Makes You Beautiful' went on to sell more than 70 million records, gained millions of screaming fans and their every move made headlines all over the globe.

Who could forget Zayn’s high profile relationship with Little Mix’s Perrie Edwards, before he swiftly moved on to supermodel Gigi Hadid? Or Harry Styles dating Taylor Swift?

Rumours swirled for a while about the band breaking up, which were confirmed in 2015 when One Direction announced a hiatus, and all members are now focusing on their own careers.

There have also been unfounded rumours though that persevere to this day.

The most prominent of them all is the allegation that Harry and Louis - or ‘Larry Stylinson’ - embarked on a secret relationship.

Despite Louis rejecting the claims, the conspiracy has still endured.

Back in 2017, Louis said to The Sun: “When it first came around I was with Eleanor, and it actually felt a little bit disrespectful to Eleanor.

“I’m so protective over things like that, about the people I love. So it created this atmosphere between the two of us where everyone was looking into everything we did.

“It took away the vibe you get off anyone. It made everything, I think on both fences, a little bit more unapproachable. I think it shows that it was never anything real, if I can use that word.”

It seems that the denial of a relationship between the two band members hasn’t been enough to satiate some fans, or ‘Larries’ as they often call themselves.

There are entire fanfictions dedicated to their love story, with timelines put together by crazed fans that ‘prove’ a romance - e.g. living in the same North London flat in 2012.

Well, yesterday (8 April), Louis spoke out again in an interview with G1 and put the rumours to bed.

He said: "What I realised a few years ago is that there is nothing I can say. There is nothing I can do to stop those who believe in this conspiracy.

"They are so connected to what they believe that they will not see the truth for what it really is.

"I'm sure many people look and find all these little conspiracies that happen in life interesting."

He went on: “There are times when it gets very personal. I have my son, Freddie. He is the most important person in my life. And occasionally, [these theories] end up addressing things that are a little unfair.

Louis has spoken out more than once about the rumours.

"This is what we have now. There's nothing I can do about it. Nothing I can say to stop people from inventing what they want to invent. So, so be it."

Suffice to say, many fans have quickly reacted to the latest rebuttal.

One person wrote on X: "Suddenly millions of 13 year old wattpad writers fell to the floor."

Another said: "Larries already attacking him and I just want to know what the end game is here? You think you’re going to bully him into being with Harry?"

A third showed no signs of letting it go, writing: "He's not confirming or denying, we won."

And a fourth said: "LARRY STYLINSON FOREVER."
