Kylie Kelce is taking a crash course in royal protocol — and she's not afraid to admit when she's got it wrong.
The podcast host, who's married to NFL legend Jason Kelce, is doing damage control after her last appeal to Kate Middleton, asking the Princess of Wales to join her podcast, came with an unintentional slip-up over her royal title, reports PEOPLE.
It all started on the September 24 episode of her podcast Not Gonna Lie, when Kylie used the show to extend a genuine, slightly cheeky invite: "Princess Kate, Duchess of Cambridge, if you ever wanted to come on and chitchat about some field hockey and maybe kids. I don't know. We got a couple things in common."

She didn't stop there, either, pointing out a connection between the two households that made the invite feel a little less random. "Our husbands chitchatted on the other podcast," she said - a reference to Prince William's surprise appearance back in July on New Heights, the hit podcast hosted by Jason and his brother Travis Kelce.
Fast forward to the October 1 episode, and Kylie was back on the topic — only this time, she'd clearly done some digging into royal protocol in the weeks in between.
"I love learning, so I was unaware that calling Princess Catherine, Princess Kate was offensive," she admitted candidly. "I didn't know that. Now I know that. Now I will proceed accordingly. I apologize for the mistake. I would like to refer to people in the most respectful way and how they feel respected."

Not content with a general mea culpa, Kylie then addressed Kate directly, as if speaking straight to camera: "Princess Catherine or the Princess of Wales, I apologize. I will get that sorted immediately starting now."
It's a small but telling moment, Kylie, who's built a following on her podcast for being refreshingly down-to-earth and unfiltered, clearly wanted to get this one right, royal protocol and all.
For the record, there's technically no "Princess Kate" at all.
Kate's correct formal title is Catherine, Princess of Wales, and she's simply referred to as the Princess of Wales. Still, the name "Kate Middleton" has endured as how most of the world knows her, a nickname that's followed her since well before she married into the Royal Family back in 2011, and one that still dominates search results today.
Whether Kate ever actually takes Kylie up on the podcast invite remains to be seen. But if she does, at least the formalities are now out of the way.
