Justin Bieber drops new selfies for first time in a while but ‘dumb’ detail doesn’t go unnoticed

Fresh from his performance at the FIFA Club World Cup final half-time show, Justin Bieber has given fans another glimpse into his life offstage with a series of new social media snaps.

While many followers flooded the comments with compliments over the chart-topper's latest update, others couldn't help but notice one unexpected detail among the photos.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out what appeared to be the singer smoking in one of the images, sparking a flurry of reactions as the post continued to gain attention online.

As part of his latest social media post, the 32-year-old included pictures of himself holding a cigar - but fans raised their concerns about how it might impact his vocals.

"We love you so much," one fan wrote. "But stop smoking."

Another fan said: "Smoking isn’t cool. You have a good voice. Don’t be dumb by smoking tobacco!"

"Don't do it please bro," added a third fan.

But many of the Canadian star's followers came out in support, emphasising that he can do what he wants.

"Why [is] everyone judging a man living his life with his own money & posting his photo on his account?" one person on X (formerly Twitter) quizzed.

Tyla has approached Bieber's representatives for comment.

Bieber has been open about his history with smoking, specifically marijuana. In his 2020 docu-series Seasons, he revealed he first tried cannabis aged 12 or 13 and said he became dependent on it. He later spoke about overcoming a wider struggle with substance use.

In Seasons, Hailey Bieber also reflected on her husband's past struggles, explaining that she and Justin 'weren't in each other's lives' until he was sober.

Earlier this month, Bieber performed as part of the lineup of the FIFA World Cup half-time show. He walked onto the pitch before lifting up his guitar and performing a fully acoustic version of 'Everything Hallelujah' - a musical choice which sparked backlash amongst fans who thought it was way too lowkey given the major sporting occasion.

"The energy of that Justin Bieber halftime show song matched the first half perfectly," one social media user hit out.

The performance also sparked a theory that Bieber's World Cup half-time show performance could possibly pave the way for an eventual tour by the Canadian hit-maker.

One X user urged: "Announce the tour, JB."

"Yes JB announce the tour so I can go by myself," quipped a second as a third chimed in: "Justin Bieber is going to tour again, and I’m all for it."
