Love Island’s Joey Essex reveals he’s split from Jessy Potts just weeks after leaving the villa

Love Island’s Joey Essex has announced that he and Jessy Potts have broken up.

Joey, 34, stunned ITV viewers back in June following his shock entrance as we eagerly watched on as he struck up a connection with 25-year-old scuba diver Jessy on the show.

While the former couple made it pretty far, they ultimately lost out on being crowned King and Queen of the villa to Josh Oyinsan and Mimii Ngulube.

He and Jessy seemed to be doing well following their departure from Love Island, with Joey just last month revealing his plans for many, many babies with her.

In an interview with OK! Magazine, he said: "We’ve already spoken about kids. We both want a big family. But we’re having a bit of a tiff at the moment. She wants four, I want eight. Imagine how great that would be?”

Jessy responded: "Oh, my God, eight!? Joey would make a great dad, though, there’s no doubt about that."

The reality TV star went on to add: "And Jessy would be an amazing mum. We’d be such good parents. I’m ready. I’d do it tomorrow. Maybe even tonight!"

When being grilled about what she loved most about Joey, Jessy shared: "He’s very cheeky. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he’s always got my best interests at heart."

"I like that she’s not a 'yes' girl," Joey chimed in. "She tells me how it is. She’ll tell me when I’m right or wrong. Jessy is with me for real reasons. And I’m very wise on that."

He added: "I can really tell when I’ve met a girl and all she cares about is fame, followers and everything else that comes with who I am. I know Jessy’s not about that.

"She’s actually with me for me."

However, just seven weeks after they left the villa, the pair have now 'called an end' to their romance.

The TOWIE star told The Sun: "Unfortunately, we have decided to call an end to the relationship but I hope we can continue to be friends.

"I truly wish Jessy the very best with whatever she does in the future."

Meanwhile, Jessy added: "I appreciate the Love Island experience I had with Joey, we tried to make it work but it wasn’t to be.

"I’m so grateful to everyone who supported us and look forward to all of the exciting opportunities ahead."

A source added: "Joey has always been super busy and things got even more hectic after the villa.

"He's now going away to boxing camp as well so things were just getting hard.

"Jessy also had her own thing going on and was here, there and everywhere after the show. It was too difficult to keep up with each other."
