Gordon Ramsay had extremely unusual gift for his kids when they turned 18

The world renowned yet characteristically hot-tempered chef, Gordon Ramsey, is also a family man - being the father of six kids - and his gifting techniques are certainly very unconventional.

Gordon, the man who coined the unforgettable insult 'idiot sandwich', is a big fan of keeping fit alongside cooking up tasty dishes.

When he's not shouting at people on TV for being underwhelming in the kitchen, you can probably find him working out or spending time with his children.

And while having a millionaire dad surely comes with benefits, apparently lavish gifts like first-class flights to Bora Bora don't make the cut.

In a profile with Men's Health, Gordon opened up about what he bought his twins, Holly and Jack, now 24, for their 18th birthday.

Arguably the most important birthday during our lifetimes.

Ramsay, who has never been once to mince his words, said: "While a lot of our friends buy their kids cars and f*****g iPads, we got our kids marathon places for their 18th birthday. You’re running the marathon for Great Ormond Street. Here’s your bib. Now move your a**e."

As well as Holly and Jack, Gordon is a loving father to Megan, 26, Tilly, 22, Oscar, 5, and Jesse, 9 months.

It seems that an interest in sports has become a non-negotiable for Holly, who today (12 September), announced her engagement to Olympic medallist Adam Peaty.

Adam won a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

He was very narrowly beaten by Italy’s Nicolò Martinenghi who clinched the gold by just 0.02 seconds.

Announcing the happy engagement news on Instagram, Holly wrote: "I am marrying my best friend. I truly cannot put into words how I am feeling right now. I still remember how big my smile was the morning I got home from my first date with you.

"Thank you for letting the little girl inside of me feel loved, seen and happier than ever. I love you & I cannot wait to be your wife."

She continued: "I promise to always be there with you and George, I’m so grateful to be in his life and I cannot wait for more. Everything is better with you. Everything has been better since you. Here’s to forever."

Gordon commented on the post, adding: "Congratulations to you both ! We’re over the moon and enjoy this moment ! Welcome to the family @adam_peaty."
