Grey's Anatomy star Eric Dane made a very inspiring move just four days after he publicly announced his ALS diagnosis.
Dane, who starred as Dr Mark Sloan in the medical drama, sadly passed away earlier this week (19 February) following his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) last year.
His grieving family confirmed his death in a statement to PEOPLE, which reads: "With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon following a courageous battle with ALS.
"He spent his final days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his world.

"Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight."
The message concluded: "He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time."

The actor announced last April that he had been diagnosed with ALS, a degenerative form of motor neurone disease, and, just a matter of days later, he confirmed he would be filming the third instalment of a hit HBO show, much to the surprise of fans.
While he may be most known for Grey's Anatomy, Dane also starred as the Jacobs family patriarch, Cal, in the popular teen drama series, Euphoria.
The Sam Levinson-created TV show also stars the likes of Zendaya, Alexa Demie, Sydney Sweeney, Barbie Ferreira, Hunter Schafer, Maude Apatow, and Jacob Elordi.
In an interview with PEOPLE back in April last year, Dane, who is survived by his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, and their two daughters, Billie and Georgia, explained: "I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of Euphoria next week.

"I kindly ask that you give my family and I privacy during this time."
Levinson has since shared a tribute following Dane's passing, saying he is 'heartbroken' by the news.
He told Variety in a statement: "I’m heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend Eric. Working with him was an honour. Being his friend was a gift."
Euphoria season three is officially scheduled to premiere on April 12th.
Dane's other TV and film credits included Burlesque, Valentine’s Day, Marley & Me and The Last Ship.
