Demi Moore revealed a very subtle clue about which producer dubbed her a 'popcorn actress' after taking home her Golden Globe award last month (6 January).

Now, as we know, this year's Golden Globes ceremony was a monumental success for Moore, as she took home the 'Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical' accolade for her role as Elisabeth Sparkle in the incredible MUBI body horror, The Substance.

After she was announced as the winner, the 62-year-old Hollywood A-lister claimed she was 'in shock', revealing that - despite being a permanent red carpet fixture throughout the 90s and 00s - this was the first win in her career.

"I've been doing this for a long time," she told viewers. "Over 45 years, and this is the first time I've ever won anything as an actor."

In her emotional speech, the Ghost star continued: "Thirty years ago, I had a producer tell me that I was a popcorn actress and at that time, I made that mean that [awards] weren't something I was allowed to have, that I could do movies that were successful, that made a lot of money, but that I couldn't be acknowledged."

A 'popcorn actress' typically refers to an actress who tends to star in films measured by box-office earnings and entertainment value as opposed to critical reception or contributions to cinematic discourse.

Moore continued: "I bought in, and I believed that, and that corroded me over time, to the point where I thought a few years ago that maybe this was it, maybe I was complete. I've done what I was supposed to do.

"And as I was at this kind of low point, I had this magical, bold, courageous, out-of-the-box script come across my desk called The Substance, and the universe told me that you're not done."

Moore has since shared somewhat of a clue about who this unnamed producer who once branded her a 'popcorn actress' could be.

Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live earlier this week on Tuesday (4 February), the talk show host asked Moore if the mystery individual could have been watching her iconic Golden Globes speech.

"He may have been rolling over in his grave," she revealed while laughing.

Elsewhere in the interview, Moore gushed as the audience erupted into a chorus of year: "How fortunate do I feel that I am in a movie that not only is a popcorn movie, that’s got people into the theatres to have a communal experience, but it’s also getting critical acclaim?

"So, two things are possible at the same time."
