David Beckham accidentally exposed a framed picture of a royal family member in his house during a Christmas video.

Just like many parents across the world right now, the 49-year-old is also partaking in the Elf on the Shelf tradition to celebrate the festive season.

Beckham took to Instagram on Monday (9 December), to share with his 88.3 million followers the latest shenanigans the tradition has brought to his house.

Have a look:

In the clip, which was posted to his main page, the footballing legend showed fans his home's Elf on the Shelf set-up: "So it's early morning. I've literally just walked into the office, and normally my office is actually quite tidy."

"Something's gone on during the night," Beckham continued, panning to a bunch of Elf on the Shelf figurines strewn about the floor and his TV stand.

He finished up while grinning: "I mean, really, mess on the floor. It's definitely Christmas in the office."

Hawk-eyed fans will have clocked that none other than the late Queen Elizabeth made a split-second appearance in a framed photo on his wall.

Beckham has a decade-spanning relationship with the royal family.

Back in 2003, he received an OBE for services to football from the late Queen and there have since been calls for Beckham to receive a knighthood - though it's an honour he is yet to receive.

His wife, Victoria Beckham, who he shares four children with, also received an OBE in 2017 for her work in fashion and charity.

She received her medal from Prince William at the time.

He also attended Prince William and Kate Middleton's royal wedding in 2011 as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's in 2018.

This year, Beckham was also named an ambassador for The King’s Foundation and assisted William in raising funds for the London Air Ambulance.

More recently, Posh and Becks were invited to a lavish state banquet at Buckingham Palace after the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as King Charles, welcomed the Emir of Qatar, Amir Sheikh Tamim and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher, to the UK as part of their state visit.

The celebrity couple were invited to attend the dinner due to their Qatari connections, with the former England football captain being an ambassador for the Qatar World Cup back in 2022.

While Beckham has visited the Palace several times over the years, their attendance marked the first time he attended a state banquet.
