Dave Grohl issues statement as he reveals he cheated on wife and had baby ‘outside marriage’

Dave Grohl has issued a statement revealing that he cheated on his wife and had a baby 'outside' his marriage.

The 55-year-old Foo Fighters lead singer has been married to his wife, Jordyn Blum, 48, for over 20 years after tying the knot back in 2003.

Together, the couple share three children; Violet, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10.

Blum has worked alongside Grohl, assisting in directing his band's music videos including 'Walking a Line'.

The director also starred in the Foo Fighter's 'White Limo' video.

Before meeting Grohl, Blum worked as a model and appeared on covers for Teen Vogue.

She then had a career move from modelling to producing over at MTV - which is where she ended up meeting the 'Times Like These' singer in 2001, just two years before they married.

While Grohl's statement shared no details about who the mother of his new child is, he confessed he was working to earn back his family’s forgiveness after his infidelity.

The musician, who was also the drummer of grunge band Nirvana from 1990 to 1994, took to Instagram yesterday (10 September) to share a short statement on the matter to his 1.4 million followers.

It reads: "I've recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage.

"I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her."

Grohl continued: "I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.

"We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together. - Dave."

Grohl also turned the comments off on the post.

Back in 2009, the singer opened up about the importance of family.

He told TIME: "I used to tour nine months out of the year. Now I don't like being away from my kids for more than 12 days.

"It's changed everything that I do. When you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It's inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting."

He and Blum were last seen in public together a few months back in July as they attended Wimbledon together in London.

He was previously wed to photographer Jennifer Leigh Youngblood from 1994 until 1997.

However, the pair ended up getting divorced after just three years of marriage after he admitted to being unfaithful.
