Courteney Cox shares touching tribute to Friends co-star Matthew Perry

She posted a tribute to her Instagram page

Courteney Cox has posted a tribute to Matthew Perry on her Instagram page.

She wrote: "I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day."

The star went on to talk about one of her favourite moments while working with Perry on Friends.

"When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share," she wrote. "For now here’s one of my favorites."

She continued: "To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story."

She added: "In this scene, before we started rolling, he whispered a funny line for me to say.

"He often did things like that. He was funny and he was kind."

In the clip Cox shared, Monica is hiding in Chandler's bed while Ross comes in to wish him good morning.

Monica emerging from under the covers when Ross leaves is met with rapturous cheers from the live studio audience.

Cox quips as Monica: "OK, your turn," before turning to Perry to say: "We're kidding! He told me to say it. He did!"

Perry died at his home in Los Angeles on 28 October. Reports claimed that he was found in his hot tub.

Courteney Cox is not the first to pay tribute to her former co-star.

Fellow Friends alumnus Matt LeBlanc wrote: "Matthew. It is with a heavy heart I say goodbye. The times we had together are honestly among the favorite times of my life.

"It was an honor to share the stage with you and to call you my friend. I will always smile when I think of you and I’ll never forget you. Never.

"Spread your wings and fly brother you’re finally free. Much love."

He added: "And I guess you’re keeping the 20 bucks you owe me."

The former cast members including Cox, LeBlanc, Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, and David Schwimmer issued a joint statement at the end of last month.

They wrote: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family.

"There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time we will say more, as and when we are able.

"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

A statement from NBC said: "He brought so much joy to hundreds of millions of people around the world with his pitch-perfect comedic timing and wry wit.

"His legacy will live on through countless generations."
