We've all heard of the saying 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree', but it's clear some parents and their children take that idea to a whole new level.

Catherine Zeta-Jones’ daughter Carys Douglas has proven exactly that after raiding her Hollywood A-lister mother's wardrobe and donning one of her most iconic looks.

To celebrate her 21st birthday in style, Carys opted to wear the absolutely stunning dress worn by the star way back when in the 90s.

Yesterday (22 April), Carys took to Instagram to share with her 218k followers a photo dump from the special occasion.

She captioned the series of snaps: "The most perfect 21st I could ask for!"

"You deserve it sweetheart," her mum commented.

Fans couldn't help but notice, however, Carys' outfit choice which was none other than Catherine's incredible pink slip she wore to the 1999 MTV Movie Awards.

In case you were struggling with the math, the vintage number is older than the birthday gal herself.

Now that's what I call vintage.

On her own Instagram account, the 54-year-old Chicago actor wished Carys her own heartfelt birthday message.

Sharing adorable black-and-white throwback pics from Carys’ early years, Catherine captioned the post: "Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter @carys.douglas.

"You are the joy of my life. 21 years of watching you blossom in to the most incredible woman you are today is a God given gift that I never take for granted and cherish every day of my life."

She finished up the post adding: "Thank you for being you. I love you with all my heart. Mama," to which Carys replied: "I love you Mama. Thank you for everything - I am so proud to be your daughter."

Michael Douglas, Catherine's husband and Carys' father, also shared a birthday post of him looking lovingly at her at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where the actor was honored with the Palme d'Or award.

He captioned the post: "Happy 21 my darling Carys!"

The 79-year-old Academy Award-winning film producer continued: You bring me and the world such happiness @carys.douglas. Dad."

"I love you so much Dadda!" Carys replied in the comments. "Thank you for your being the best dad in the world."
