Billie Eilish, 22, has opened up about her highly publicised past relationship with frontman of The Neighborhood, Jesse Rutherford, 33.

Billie's third studio album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, was released on 17 May and has received widespread critical acclaim, following which her third cover story for Rolling Stone was published.

And in a follow up article, the publication revealed parts that hadn't made the final cut to coincide with her album launch.

Rare comments about her ex-relationship with Jesse were included.

Billie publicly dated musician Jesse between October 2022 when they were first spotted in West Hollywood, and their split was confirmed in May 2023.

Their 10-year age gap attracted a lot of disapproval and controversy.

Billie's brother, Finneas, told E! News at the GQ Men of the Year party in 2022: "Listen, as long as she's happy, I'm happy."

Billie and Jesse appeared to poke fun at their age difference, with Billie dressing as a baby and Jesse as an old man for Halloween that same year.

A representative for Billie told Page Six that they had split in May 2023.

They said: "We can confirm Billie and Jesse did split amicably and remain good friends."

There had been rumours of infidelity on both sides circulating online, and Billie's representatives further clarified: "All cheating rumors are false. Both are currently single."

The follow-up in Rolling Stone confirmed that Billie and Jesse remain on good terms.

Billie said: "That’s my guy, truly one of my favourite people in the world."

As for her current relationship status, Billie added: "I plan on never dating again. That’s not true, obviously.

"But no, I don’t see myself being serious with anyone until I find someone that really feels right to me, and that is not interesting to me right now.”

Billie's breakup and latest comments follow her making comments about her sexuality, which she has further emphasised in her new track 'Lunch'.

In November 2023, Billie told Variety: "I love [women] so much. I love them as people. I’m attracted to them as people. I’m attracted to them for real.”

She continued: "I’m physically attracted to them. But I’m also so intimidated by them and their beauty and their presence.”

The lyrics for 'Lunch' include: "I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one / And I could never get enough.”

Later in the song, Billie adds: "Baby, I think you were made for me / Somebody write down the recipe / Been tryin' hard not to overeat / You're just so sweet."
