Crime-thriller Windfall arrived on Netflix on Friday, and viewers were quick to watch this anticipated flick over the weekend.
Starring Lily Collins, Jesse Plemons and Jason Segel, the thriller focuses on a home invasion gone wrong.
The movie's official synopsis reads: "A man breaks into a tech billionaire's empty vacation home, but things go sideways when the arrogant mogul and his wife arrive for a last-minute getaway."
The film's premise, while interesting, falls flat according to many viewers. Especially the ending.
Social media users have been quick to let their dislike of the film's ending be known, with one user even demanding an alternate ending.
Another user wrote: "#Windfall was such an interesting movie even though I thought the ending was unnecessary."
Others agreed, posting "#it was good until the ending."
One viewer tweeted that while the film was cheesy, it was enjoyable until the "ending completely lost me disappointing"
The movie currently has 55 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, with an audience score of 47 per cent - suggesting that while it may not be Netflix's best release, it's certainly not the streaming giant's worst.
Social media reaction to the film certainly hasn't just been negative, one film critic even tweeted that she hasn't been able to stop thinking about it.
Another user wrote: "#Windfall is undoubtedly one of the most unique and fresh takes on a genre that has been dominating the screens since 60s. Crisp storytelling, brilliant performances and a SHOCKING conclusion makes this Hitchcockian thriller a must-watch."
While many appear to have strong opinions on the film, whether positive or negative, some seem to be somewhat conflicted.
One Twitter user wrote that: "... Have you ever felt confused and satisfied at the same time? Well, this is one of those movies that will give such a feeling."
Another wrote that the film is "not bad nor great."
Some viewers also commented on the film's soundtrack, which was composed by Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans. One viewer wrote: "The best soundtrack I have heard in a movie recently is Windfall."
Another posted that the film has a "terrific old school suspense movie background score"
Windfall is currently streaming on Netflix.
