Who Wants To Be A Millionaire will see its first winner in 14 years tonight (11th September), and the contestant is set to bag the cash in a record time, too.

The winner, whose identity is currently being kept secret, is believed to be a man, but that's all we know about him so far.

And speaking on the winning moment, host Jeremy Clarkson teased that it wouldn't disappoint, describing the individual as the 'best contestant ever' and promising they 'whizzed through' all the toughest questions with ease to reach the 15th, million pound answer.

"I'm absolutely thrilled and delighted that we've found someone who seems to know just about everything," he said.

"I can't wait for the viewers to see it and I want to watch it back, too. I was just in awe of this contestant and think they are probably the best the show has ever had in its 22-year history.

"It was a joy to sit and watch it unfold".

Recalling the moment the winner bagged the prize, Clarkson said it happened remarkably quickly.

"All of a sudden, confetti was falling from the ceiling and I was saying 'You've just won £1 million'," he said.

"I wasn't sure I'd ever get to utter those immortal six words and I'm not embarrassed to say, it was a little emotional but, boy, did it feel good".

Judith Keppel was the show's first winner (

The winner is only the sixth individual ever to triumph on the ITV show since its launch in 1998.

Retired civil servant Ingram Wilcox was the last person to win the show back in 2006.

Previous winners have also included Judith Keppel in November 2000, Pat Gibson in 2004, Robert Brydges in 2001, and David Edwards - who also won in 2001.

Most famously, Major Charles Ingram cheated his way to the top and won in the same year.

Charles, his wife Diana, and an accomplice, Tecwen Whittock, who was sitting in the audience, were accused of cheating when producers watched the recording of the show back.

The couple stood trial for conspiring by coughing to signal the correct answers.

The Ingrams - who maintain their innocence to this day - were eventually dealt an 18-month suspended sentence and fines of £25,000.

Their story was told on ITV's Quiz earlier this year, with Michael Sheen depicting the then host, Chris Tarrant.

More recently, the show saw a close call winner back in May, when retired doctor Andrew Townsley, from Glasgow, looked set to bag the big bucks. But he fell at the last hurdle and walked away with £500,000 instead, when faced with a question he didn't know the answer to, about motorsport.

Tonight's ep looks like it isn't one to miss.
