Where The Crawdads Sing Trailer Looks 'Exactly' Like The Book, Fans Say

The first trailer for Where The Crawdads Sing has officially dropped and fans are thrilled over how closely it mirrors the original novel.

Written by Delia Owens, the 2018 mystery novel has been adapted by Reese Witherspoon's production company Hello Sunshine, and it looks like they got everything spot on, from the casting of beloved characters to the dreamy Georgia setting.

Where The Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya (Daisy Edgar-Jones), a young woman who raised herself in the marshes of the deep South after being abandoned by her family.

When her former boyfriend is found dead, Kya quickly becomes the prime suspect.

The film also stars Harris Dickinson as Chase Andrews and Taylor John Smith as Tate Walker. Other co-stars include Ahna O'Reilly, Sterling Macer Jr, Garret Dillahunt, and Jojo Regina.

After catching the trailer, fans were over the moon to see that everything was just as they had imagined while reading the book.

One tweeted: "I read this book/ now a movie. The trailer looks exactly how I imagined everything in the book :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:So excited!!!"

A second wrote: "I'm so excited for #WheretheCrawdadsSing. I've read the book twice and I can't remember the last I read it - perfect excuse to read it again. The marsh in this trailer is how I always pictured it. #CrawdadsMovie".

Others raved that Daisy Edgar-Jones was the perfect choice for the role of Kya, pointing out that she looked exactly as the character had been described.

Commenting on the video, one fan wrote: "Never knew of Daisy Edgar-Jones, but she's exactly who I envision as Kya when I read the book. Same with the town, her home, and all the little details. This is awesome."

Another noted: "I think Daisy Edgar-Jones is a great choice for Kya, I loved her in Normal People and so many things about this are exactly as I pictured."

Where the Crawdads Sing is set to hit cinemas on 22nd July, 2022.
