On Wednesday night, a true crime documentary aired on MTV, delving into the tragic death of Kirsty Maxwell, who fell from a balcony whilst on a hen party in Spain in 2017.

Since the doc aired, viewers have been left heartbroken at the devastating events, which saw the 27-year-old found dead by a swimming pool after falling from an apartment block in Benidorm.

Newlywed Kirsty had been on a friend's hen do when she tragically fell from the balcony. The apartment was not the one she was staying in, but was occupied by five British men.

A number of theories circulated at the time, but in 2019 it was ruled that the five men were not involved in the incident.

Although Kirsty's death was ruled as an accident, it has never been explained, and loved ones still have many unanswered questions about what actually happened in the hours leading up to her death.

The doc follows Linda Adey as she meets with Kirsty's family and friends, as well as her husband Adam, in a bid to uncover the truth behind what happened four years ago.

Along with parents Brian and Denise Curry, they are pleading with Spanish authorities to look into the case again.

And viewers at home have some strong opinions, specifically over the way in which the authorities handled the case to begin with, including the disappearance of possibly vital DNA evidence.

One person tweeted: "Devastating watching @CurryKooks & @dollyd64 & #kirstymaxwell family and friends. I hope & pray after #TrueLifeCrimeUK @iamlindaadey that witnesses come fwd with info that helps.
