Ever since the news dropped that Sex and the City would be returning, fans have been going completely and utterly wild.

There are so many questions... What's Carrie up to? Will Big return? What will the plot be? What has happened since the last instalment? But one question we do already have the answer to is that nope, Kim Cattrall will not be involved. Sob.

And while some fans are excited nevertheless, others feel so strongly about what Sex and the City would look like without Samantha, that they've pledged not to watch at all.

Responding to the news, one person tweeted: "Then it's not sex and the city and i wont be watching. Samantha carried this show."

While another added: "I will not be watching sex and the city if there's no Samantha.....genuinely what would be the point???"

"I'm not watching a Sex and the City reboot without Samantha," added another adamant fan.

Others were convinced that the reboot just wouldn't be the same, with one likening Samantha to Beyoncé.

"Sex and the City doing a new series without Samantha is like Destiny's Child making a comeback without Beyoncé," they wrote.

While another said: "Sex and the city IS SAMANTHA. everyone else was an extra." Yikes!

HBO Max announced the show's revival on Sunday evening, with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis all sharing a teaser clip on their social media platforms.

The reboot will be titled And Just Like That which - as fans will know - references one of Carrie's iconic lines from her column.

When the news was announced, many fans were quick to question whether Samantha would be involved in the new series, or whether the character would be played by somebody else.

Replying to a fan on her Instagram, SJP said: "No, I don't dislike her. I've never said that. Never would. Samantha isn't part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do. X (sic)."

There had been talk of the story continuing - in the form of a third movie - over the last few years. However, this was cancelled back in 2017, with Kim claiming she said no to the movie the year before.

Many wondered if her reluctance was partly down to the reported feud between Kim and SJP.

When Kim's brother tragically passed away in 2018, after going missing in Canada, she accused Sarah of "exploiting her tragedy".

SJP had sent a public message to Kim at the time, writing: "Dearest Kim, my love and condolences to you and yours and Godspeed to your beloved brother."

Kim responded: "My Mom asked me today 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.

"Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven't already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I'm writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your 'nice girl' persona."

Sarah later said she was heartbroken over claims they were never friends.

Although we are gutted that Kim won't be involved, we just can't contain our excitement over this! More as it comes...
