Former soap star Roxanne Pallett reportedly left reality show Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls, after just five days, as the bonfires on the show triggered traumatic memories of a house fire when she was 16.

It is believed that she walked out of the Channel 5 survival show in May this year as she couldn't bear the smell of the smoke any longer.

According to a spokesperson for Roxanne, the event was so horrific that she was forced to quit after being reminded of the fire by the smoke.

Roxanne's spokesperson confirmed to The Sun Online: "Roxanne, her grandmother and mum were involved in a house fire in the middle of the night, when she was 16.

"Roxanne and her family were rescued by emergency services after being trapped in the house for a substantial amount of time.

"Roxanne suffered smoke inhalation and her mum was hospitalised for months as she lost her sight, this later returned after lengthy medical care.

"Her house was completely burnt out and Roxanne and her family lost all of their belongings."

Love Island's Montana Brown and journalist Paris Lees also walked off the same show.

Roxanne quit Celebrity Big Brother house on Saturday, after claiming that fellow housemate Ryan Thomas 'assaulted her' by 'repeatedly punching her in the ribs'.

Since leaving the reality house, Roxanne has broke her silence on the incident and explained she 'got it wrong'.

Speaking on Jeremy Vine this morning, Roxanne explained: "At the time it hurt but when I look back on it, I got it wrong. I really got it wrong.

"Everything in that house becomes heightened, a look, an action, a comment. All I can say is in the moment, it felt worse than it was. It was the word 'deliberately' that I regret, massively."

She also apologised to Ryan, his family, his friends and the public over the accusations.

Roxanne is expected to address the row in her CBB exit interview on Monday evening with show host Emma Willis.
