Fans Are Desperate For Paul Mescal And Daisy Edgar-Jones To Get Together After They Posted This Pic

Since its release, Normal People has been a storming hit with fans who have been obsessing over its heart-wrenching story.

One of the main talking points has been the incredible cast of actors - and namely the stunning on-screen chemistry between its two leads, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal, who play Marianne and Connell.

The pair of actors first met at a 'chemistry read' for the show (where producers could decide whether they would well on screen) and landed their parts soon after. No surprise there.

In the BBC Sally Rooney adaptation, they portray the complexities of first love through their characters - which includes a lot of steamy sex scenes.

Naturally, fans have taken their electric chemistry to speculate whether the actors might be dating in real life.

"You guys should hook up in real life, so much love in those eyes," wrote one fan under a photo Daisy posted of the pair hugging and looking at one another after wrapping filming.

"The chemistry you two have, OMG!," wrote another. "How did you and @paul.mescal not fall in love during the making of this?! You must have done a tiny bit?! Surely?!!!!," asked someone, speaking for the nation.

While Daisy, 21, and Paul, 24, have maintained they are simply friends, it hasn't stopped fans from wishfully thinking there is more to their relationship IRL.

"I wanna know if marianne and Connell from normal people r together in real life and if the answer is no I wanna know why the hell not [sic]," tweeted one person.

"That chemistry! How could they not be in love in real life?," quizzed a second.

However, fans might be disappointed.

Paul, from Maynooth, County Kildare, has kept schtumn about his love life in interviews, but it seems he's single judging by a social media stalk.

However, Daisy is in a relationship with actor Tom Varey, 29, who has starred in Game of Thrones, Ackley Bridge and No Offence.

*Sigh.*

We guess fans fantasising about an IRL relationship between Daisy and Paul will have have to keep it as just that: a fantasy.
