At first glance, Netflix's Bridgerton looks like the perfect period drama to get stuck into with all the family on Christmas Day.
After all, when we first heard about it, it gave us major Downton Abbey vibes - and we love a bit of Downton over the festive season. But raise your hand if you immediately regretted settling down to watch the series with your parents?
*Raises hand*.
Since the show dropped on Netflix on the big day, viewers everywhere are taking to Twitter to warn others - do not watch Bridgerton with your parents!

If you're yet to hear about the show, it's all about Daphne Bridgerton (played by Phoebe Dynevor) and her relationship with Simon, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page).
Alongside mounting pressure to find her 'true love', Daphne and Simon strike a mutually beneficial deal to pretend to be engaged. However, things take a (very) steamy turn when they realise they have genuine feelings for one another.
Viewers were totally taken aback by just how raunchy the show is, with many mortified that they'd decided to watch the series with their family members.

One tweeted: "So bridgerton was good, but i watched it with my parents... which i do not recommend."
While another added: "Netflix needs a new rating system. Watch with parents. Bridgerton definitely doesn't get this rating."
"Sex scenes, are in fact, still awkward af with parents. even at my big age," added another.
Meanwhile one person even admitted to faking a coughing fit, just to find an escape route out of the living room.

"Unwittingly watched #Bridgerton with my parents. It got too awkward mid way through episode 5 so I faked a coughing fit and went to get a glass of water...for the rest of the series. Learn from my mistakes, friends," they wrote.
