First Dates Stars Elan And Cindy Reveal That They're Engaged

The pair were matched out of 350,000 singletons in April 2018, winning over audiences with their cute banter and matching khaki ensembles.

The episode also broke some hearts, with Cindy telling Elan that she was preparing to spend Christmas without her mum who had been diagnosed with a brain tumour. Her mother tragically died a few months later, and the couple bonded as Elan supported her through her grief.

This week, the pair announced on the First Dates Instagram that they're now engaged, with the caption "Elan and Cindy have some exciting news to share". Elan said: "Hey guys, we've got some exciting news for you... we're engaged". Cindy added that they were on "cloud nine", saying "thank you First Dates".

Their announcement was followed by messages from the cast of first dates, including host Fred Sirieix, who said "Congratulations guys, well done", and barman Merlin Griffiths who said: "How you doing man? Congratulations on your engagement. Bloody fantastic news!"

Fans commented their congratulations on the video, with one saying "Awww, Congratulations to you both, lovely news! X" and another saying "It started with the grey -twinning shirt and dress" in amongst all of the heart emojis. The video has already had almost 10,000 views despite only being up for a few hours.

Elan posted a photo of Cindy wearing the ring on Instagram with the caption "Happy Birthday to my stunning fiancé @northern_cindy! When we first walked into that restaurant, little did we know what the future had in store for us!

"Cindy, it didn't take me long to realise that you were the one for me and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you. You are the strongest person I know and I love you so much. Here's to the future Mr & Mrs Cohen".
