Selena Gomez breaks social media silence amid Zayn Malik dating rumours
The pair were allegedly spotted on a date in New York
Selena Gomez has posted to social media for the first time since rumours began to swirl of a romance between herself and One Direction star Zayn Malik.
Directioners and Gomez fans were all sent into a collective frenzy when news emerged that the pair had allegedly been spotted 'hand in hand' at a restaurant in New York, which came weeks after fans noticed that Selena and Zayn follow each other on Instagram.
The rumour first came from TikTok user and restaurant hostess Klarissa, who claimed that another of her hostess friends had taken the two pop stars to their table.

In a very excited series of messages, the friend told Klarissa: "Tell me how Selena Gomez and Zayn just walked into [the restaurant] hand in hand, making out, and I seated them."
Naturally the clip quickly went viral, with fans unable to believe the alleged news.
"Zayn would be so lucky if this is true," one viewer wrote, while another commented: "She deserves all the happiness in the world."
A source speaking to Entertainment Tonight shared more details on the alleged date, claiming: "Selena and Zayn went out in SoHo in New York City last night at around 10:30 pm. They walked in holding hands and were kissing.
"Most restaurant staff and restaurant-goers didn't notice them. It seemed like they were comfortable together and it was clear that it was a date."
Neither Selena or Zayn have commented on the rumour since it first emerged, but the 'My Mind & Me' singer took to Instagram for the first time since Klarissa's video was posted to share a throwback photo.
The snap showed Selena posing in a bikini, with blonde hair falling over her shoulders.
"TBT to blondie sel," she wrote. "Summers coming! So many exciting things coming!"
The post didn't make any reference to Zayn, but that didn't stop fans from bringing him in to the conversation.
One fan quickly got to the point as they commented: "Where's Zayn."
Another wrote: "I'm so happy to know that you two are dating."
Zayn was previously in a relationship with Gigi Hadid, with who he shares a daughter named Khai, but the pair split in 2021 after more than seven years of on-and-off dating.
Gigi recently spoke about how she and Zayn co-parent their daughter, with the model often booking her work commitments for when 'Khai is with her dad'.
Adding: "That she can be with both parents [which] makes me very happy."
