Liam Payne Opens Up About ‘Disliking’ Zayn Malik In Candid Interview

Liam Payne has opened up about 'disliking' former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik in a candid interview with YouTuber Logan Paul.

Speaking on Logan Paul's podcast Impaulsive, Liam briefly touched on Zayn's online feud with Logan's brother Jake Paul.

When the two became embroiled in a very public feud back in 2020, Zayn's ex-girlfriend Gigi Hadid took to Twitter to call out Jake Paul, writing at the time: "He doesn’t care to hang w you and your embarrassing crew of YouTube groupies ..? "Home alone with his best friends like a respectful king cause he has me, sweetie. Unbothered by your irrelevant ugly a**. Go to bed."

Speaking on Logan's podcast this week, Liam chuckled that Gigi's tweet 'didn't age very well'.

He went on to say: "Before we get too deep into this, there's many reasons why I dislike Zayn and there's many reasons why I'll always, always be on his side."

In what we can only assume was an attempt to defend the former One Direction star, Liam suggested that Zayn is the way he is because he 'had a different upbringing'.

He said: "My parents are overly supportive to the point where it’s annoying at times and they don’t even mind me saying that. And Zayn had a different upbringing in that sense."

The Strip That Down singer continued: "I can't sit here and pick on him... I don't agree with any of his actions, I can't commend some of the things he is done, I can't be on his side for that.

"What I can say is, your only hope is at some point in their life, the person on the other end of the phone wants to receive the help you're willing to give them."

Fans who tuned in to the bombshell interview were furious with Liam for discussing the way that Zayn was raised.

"Liam Payne going on air calling out Zayn's upbringing is just so offensive if yk how hard his parents worked for their family," tweeted one outraged viewer.

"Liam payne going onto logan paul’s podcast and calling zayn malik a d**k is not something i thought would happen today but here we are," wrote a second.

"I don't blame zayn for leaving one direction, if i had to deal with liam payne almost daily i'd want out too," joked a third.

Zayn left One Direction in March 2015 to spend some private time out of the spotlight before embarking on a solo career.

Less than a year later, the remaining four band members confirmed that One Direction would be going on an indefinite hiatus. Since then, all five former band members have launched their own personal projects.
