Christina Aguilera Breaks Her Silence On Britney Spears' Conservatorship Following Backlash

Christina Aguilera has officially spoken out about Britney Spears after facing backlash from fans and Britney herself for staying silent on the matter of her conservatorship.

In the midst of the #FreeBritney movement, celebrities like Iggy Azalea, Miley Cyrus, and Paris Hilton have shown support for the pop star and publicly celebrated the end of her conservatorship - but many had wondered why Britney's former Mickey Mouse Club co-star hadn't been as vocal.

Now, as Britney enjoys her new-found freedom, Christina has reached out to her former friend in the hopes of reconnecting.

While Christina had previously issued a statement on Britney's conservatorship in the midst of her court battle, the Genie In A Bottle singer had since refused to comment publicly on Britney's freedom.

Asked at the Latin Grammy's in November 2021 if she had had any communication with Britney since she had won her conservatorship battle just days earlier, Christina said: "No, we’re not doing that tonight. I’m sorry. But I'm happy for her."

After the awkward red carpet exchange, fans were furious with Christina, and Britney herself took to Instagram to call out the songstress.

"I love and adore everyone who supported me… but refusing to speak when you know the truth, is equivalent to a lie !!!! 13 years being in a corrupt abusive system yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about ???" she wrote at the time.

But in a recent interview with radio host Enrique Santos, Christina revealed that she be more than happy to reconnect with Britney.

Explaining why she hadn't spoken up earlier, Christina said: "It's a subject that I definitely want to be careful of because I'd never want to speak out of turn about somebody that I have so much respect and admiration for.

"But I'm so happy, I will just say... as I've said before that I couldn't be happier for her. Every woman deserves to feel empowered and to own that for themselves however they see fit."

She continued: "And yes, growing up in this business can be freaking crazy, and so if anybody gets that and understands what that means at that time coming up, it definitely would be her and I. So I will always be here to reach out to... I love being able to connect like that with other women... it's very important now, more than ever, now that we do have the ability to connect, that that happens and that we always feel unified."
