Whether as disaster dates or terrible colleagues, the chances are we all know a narcissist, and this toxic personality trait could be written in the stars, according to an astrologer.
Narcissism is often characterised by authoritarian behaviour patterns, lack of remorse, extreme grandiosity, and superficiality.

But can you get an early warning as to whether someone might be a narcissist based on when their birthday is?
Reda Wigle, an astrology writer for the New York Post, has singled out the three star signs most likely to be narcissists.
So without further ado, here are the ones you have to look out for:
Leo (July 23-August 22)
Advert
Yep, those born in the height of summer are apparently at risk of being narcissists.
According to astrologers, Leos are ruled by the sun, and might be in the habit of thinking the world revolves around them.
Wigle writes: "At their big cat best, the contagious confidence that Leos possess give the rest of us permission to both love ourselves and believe that we are worthy of the love of others.
"At worst, Leos operate from a place of wounded ego or deep insecurity and things gets dark, like black hole space vacuum dark, wherein no amount of praise, love, validation, sex or success is able to satisfy or stabilize them."
Advert
Examples of famous Leos include Napoleon Bonaparte (who definitely had a sizeable ego), tech billionaire Larry Ellison and Barack Obama.
Capricorn (December 22-January 19)
Capricorns are ruled by the planet Saturn - on the plus side this gives them stamina, diligence, discipline and a structured approach to tasks.
Advert
On the downside, Wigle warns: "Capricorns are goal oriented and this can translate to total self-absorption, an empathy deficit and a low key ruthless willingness to do anything, and conquer anyone, to get ahead."
A famous example of the Capricorn is Tiger Woods, who is known for being meticulous and goal driven.
Aquarius (January 20-February 18)
Advert
Aquariuses are ruled by Uranus (no jokes, please), which is apparently the planet of invention and innovation, and the star sign if characterised by independence and assertiveness.
However, Wigle says their independence can tip over into becoming overly self-absorbed.
She writes: "Hyper independence is a kind of self-involvement and water bearers tend to wear self-sufficiency like a war medal/merit badge a quality that can bleed into believing anyone that needs more than they do is somehow deficient, less than or feeble."
Famous Aquariuses include former president Franklin D. Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.
Needless to say, whether you believe in astrology or not, it's probably best not to write someone off as a narcissist purely because of the date they were born - at least not until you've checked their moon and rising signs, anyway.
