If you’re into horror, chances are you’re a Stephen King fan.

The globally-renowned author has had many of his bone-chilling novels adapted for the silver screen, including IT, The Shining and Misery.

They’re all certified bangers for people who like to watch things go bump in the night.

After Netflix acquired the rights to stream many of King’s film adaptations, including Carrie - it also began producing some of its own.

This includes an incredibly scary and tense psychological horror that holds an impressive critic rating of 91 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

Directed by horror-aficonado Mike Flanagan, Gerald’s Game stars Carla Gugino as Jessie and Bruce Greenwood as her husband Gerald.

The film is unsettling from the start. Jessie and Gerald arrive at an isolated house for a romantic break. In an attempt to reignite their passion and cause some sparks in the bedroom, Gerald handcuffs Jessie to the bed.

Then, Gerald has a heart attack and dies, leaving Jessie handcuffed to the bed and unable to escape. What follows is a twisted rollercoaster of psychological horror with gruesome scenes that will have you on the edge of your seat.

Gerald’s Game was first released back in 2017, but the beauty of Netflix is that people discover previously-missed gems.

People all over social media have been sharing their reactions after watching it for the first time.

One person said: “Gerald's game on netflix made me faint and throw up really recommend if you just want to put your body in unnecessary amount of stress LMAOOO.”

Another added: “I genuinely just passed out for a few seconds watching Gerald’s Game.”

Some reviewers have even claimed it’s better than the book. (Netflix)

A third chimed: “Gerald’s Game. It was intense, my friend passed out!”

A fourth concluded: “Okay, I genuinely nearly just passed out. #GeraldsGame has been on pause for ten minutes. A film has NEVER affected me like that before."

And someone warned: "Be careful. The big climactic scene made me sick to my stomach. I had to take a break before I could come back and finish watching it."

Safe to say you should approach with caution if you’re squeamish.

It’s definitely worth giving it a watch though - with some reviewers even claiming it’s better than the book.

One critic wrote for the Indian Express: “There are few movies that manage to outdo their source material.

“There are fewer still movies that are based on a Stephen King book and still manage to outdo the source material. Netflix original film Gerald's Game is one such movie."

Grab the popcorn, your next night in is sorted... even if you will have to watch some of it through your fingers.
