A Hotel In Iceland Is Offering A Free Stay To Couples If Ladies Propose On Leap Day On 29th February

The perfect opportunity to pop the question.

If you're proposing this leap year ladies, we know just the hotel where you can carry out the romantic deed - especially if you like freebies.

Hotel Ranga, which is one hour away from Reykjavik, Iceland, is offering a free one night stay if you're a female planning to propose on 29th February.

The leap year date, which comes around only every four years, is the day that's especially known for women getting down on one knee and now this hotel wants to help you make it happen.

Whilst we don't agree with the outdated tradition that men must propose every other day of the year (you propose if you like and when you like ladies!), it sounds like a great opportunity to snap up a free night in a hotel.

The hotel's wedding coordinator will even help you organise the huge occasion, making it extra special by working in a paid-for helicopter ride or a trip to a crystallised waterfall.

Then once they've hopefully accepted your proposal, later that day you could head to one of the hotel's three hot tubs.

In the evening you can relax with a bottle of free champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, before heading up to the stargazing observatory so you can look up at the stars through telescopes - what a romantic way to round off the evening.

Maybe you'll even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Apparently the location of the hotel makes it favourable for seeing them and February is a great time to spot them too.

Then the following morning you'll receive complimentary breakfast too and of course you can choose to pay for further nights if you wish to extend your stay.

Eyrún Aníta Gylfadóttir, the hotel's marketing manager told Travel + Leisure: "Iceland in general is a big champion of women, and we love that Leap Year has this tradition where it's good luck for ladies to propose marriage on this day.

"We wanted to empower women to have the courage to take the lead not only on Leap Day, but every day, and celebrate them for it!

"Plus, we're located in an especially beautiful location and are a romantic choice for couples looking to pop the question, celebrate a special occasion and enjoy an adventurous getaway."
