Everyone loves a day off, and now there is a way to turn your 25 days of annual leave into 55 days off work using bank holidays and weekends to your advantage.

We know 2018 isn't even over yet, but there is nothing wrong with forward planning and trying to get your holidays for next year sorted.

If you get your requests in early enough, you can almost double your annual holiday allowance, which means double lie ins and double time on the beach.

You might need to get your diary out for this one. Any days off that you need to book off are circled in red, any bank holidays are in green and the weekends are circled with a blue ring.

April 2019

Over the Easter break, you can bag yourself 16 days off work by only using eight days annual leave.

Thanks to weekends, Easter Monday and Good Friday you only need to request the 15th to 18th April and the 23rd to 26th April off to give yourself 16 days of out of office bliss.

That gives you plenty of time to recover from all of the chocolate you've managed to stuff your face with during your extended break.

May 2019

May is a very good month for bank holidays as you can get yourself nine days off twice in a row by using just eight days holiday, meaning you'll be off work for 18 days during the month.

Book off 7th to 10th May around the 6th May Bank Holiday, and 28th to 31st for the late 27th May Bank Holiday. The weekends will also play in our favour.

May could be the perfect time to treat yourself to a little pre-summer getaway or just spend time in the beer garden with a glass of gin and tonic.

August 2019

Everyone loves the August bank holiday, as it's a great excuse to heat up the BBQ and get everyone round for one last summer drink.

Thanks to weekends, you can get yourself nine days off using only four days annual leave in this month.

All you need to do is book off the 27th to 30th August, and you've got enough time to say goodbye to summer.

Arguably, December is the best time to give yourself some extra time off for all the food, Christmas drinks and last minute present shopping.

Plus, no one wants to be stuck in an office when all they want to be doing is spreading festive cheer.

Book the 23rd, 24th, 27th, 30th and 31st of December 2019 off, and along with the Bank Holidays on 25th, 26th December and 1st January, you'll have almost two whole weeks away from your desk.

While you're prepping your email for HR, you might as well see how you can get 11 days off this Christmas by only using four days annual leave.

As Christmas falls on a Tuesday this year, there is a clever hack to help you get as much time off as possible.

By booking off Monday 24th December, Thursday 27th December, Friday 28th December and Monday 31st December, you'll end up getting 11 uninterrupted days off, which sounds perfect.

If you are a little bit more generous with your holidays, you could also take off Wednesday 2nd January, Thursday 3rd January and Friday 4th January which would give you 16 days off work just by using seven days holiday.
