Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, the stars of Apple TV's hit series The Morning Show, have given a taster of what's to come in the long-awaited second season and it sounds like fans are in for a wild ride.
Following the conclusion of the first season, when Alex (Aniston) and Bradley (Witherspoon) exposed the UBA network for their knowledge of sexual misconduct and creating a toxic workplace culture, things pick right back up with UBA trying to do damage control.
"We're basically tuning into season two, moments after Bradley and Alex are on air and get shut down. So we sort of have a very energetic energised entrance into season two," Aniston explains.

"Then it takes a lot of twists and turns and we basically are dealing with the repercussions of what season one handed us and so you see the struggles, the outcasts, the cancel, cancel culture, everyone sort of walking around with their own guilt of what they allowed to and not to happen.
"There's a lot of self record reckoning and a lot of twists and turns that we can't really talk about, actually. But it definitely gets spicy."
Since the show debuted in November 2019, the world has endured a pandemic and witnessed important conversations around race following the murder of George Floyd. The first season explored the Me Too movement and Witherspoon says season 2 will cover lots of difficult topics discussed in the news to reflect the 'cultural reckoning' we have all experienced.

On whether it was difficult to address these issues, Witherspoon explains: "I don't think anything's difficult. I think it's just the truth.
"Homophobia, sexism, ageism. They're all meaningful. I think it was just how do we allocate time to every important issue that's on people's mind, we're in a cultural reckoning."
Aniston echoed similar sentiments, adding: "We don't address things in black and white, we address them head on and, and want to hear the conversations that are taking place behind closed doors, the conversations that people don't feel that they can say, or have out loud.”
Filming on season 2 began before the world shut down due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic but a decision was made by writers and producers, which includes executive producers Aniston and Witherspoon, to rewrite the season to incorporate the virus.

Witherspoon is 'really proud' of the show for portraying of the events happening in the real world right now with 'thoughtfulness'.
"We're kind of dealing with all those things that happened before the entire world shut down. So it's kind of this theme of the world happens when you're busy making other plans.
"So we're all very invested in our own struggles and our own ideas and our own pursuits and then something even bigger than all of us is happening in the world."
Upon the return to production, new protocols had to be introduced which meant the two stars spent less time close together on set. But fear not, Alex and Bradley will have lots of shenanigans this season and the separation actually made Aniston and Witherspoon's rendezvous off camera more special.

"I'd be working in the morning and Jen would be working in the afternoon," Witherspoon jokes. "But whenever we saw each other, we'd have a coffee!"
Aniston agrees, adding: "Yes, we just have a squeal and just be like 'how you doing' and 'what's going on in your world?'
"We had a lot of amazing time together. But it wasn't as much as we wanted to. Also because of this protocol we were given, everybody was kind of assigned to a certain part [of the set].
"But we've known each other for so many years and we've are so we respect each other's work that we have done over the years.

"And so the fact that we get to do this together, just it just feels it feels very natural."
