Sex Education Fans Are Just Realising Where They Recognise Ruby From

The Netflix drama is not Mimi Keene’s first TV gig.

The hotly-anticipated third season of Sex Education dropped last week, and we have already binged our way through the latest sexual misadventures happening at Moordale High.

One of the most surprising storylines of the season saw nerd turned sex therapist Otis (Asa Butterfield) getting stuck into casual sex with Moordale’s queen bee, Ruby (Mimi Keene).

While Ruby has starred in earlier seasons of the show, this is the first time we’ve really got to know the character beyond her ‘mean girl’ persona – and fans have fallen in love with her soft and gentle side.

But other eagle-eyed fans recognise actress Mimi Keene from another TV show from many years ago.

Taking to TikTok, user @Matilsda shared where she recognised Mimi from, having been on a CBBC programme when she was just 15.

Yep, Mimi Keene was a regular in documentary series School For Stars, which aired on CBBC in 2011.

The series followed pupils at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts as they juggle the glamour and excitement of careers in TV, film and theatre with the highs and lows of school life.

Mimi was someone who always stood out even when she was a student, with her classmates praising her for her theatrical abilities.

Speaking on the programme, a young Mimi said: “I really love acting, and that’s where I see myself in the future. It’s what I want to do with my life.

“I like to do comedy and different accents.”

School For Stars also documented young Mimi when she landed her breakthrough role as Cindy Williams in popular BBC soap, EastEnders.

And Mimi isn’t the only Sex Education star to have got their first steps into acting on School For Stars.

Kedar Williams-Stirling, who stars as popular head boy Jackson, also featured on the programme.

Meanwhile, Layton Williams, known for roles in Bad Education and Everybody's Talking About Jamie, also featured.

Sex Education is available to stream on Netflix.
