ITV has announced a one-off documentary reflecting upon the September 11th terrorist attacks on the 20th anniversary of the tragic event.
Titled 9/11: Life Under Attack, the programme looks back at the day that changed life as we knew it, after two commercial airliners slammed into the World Trade Centre. The events, which are all burned into our memories, saw over 2600 people killed and caused damage on a catastrophic scale to New York’s financial district.

The programme will see survivors of the tragedy tell the personal stories of that day, as well as featuring previously unseen footage and images along with unheard audio from those involved. In its entirety, 9/11: Life Under Attack pieces together the story of how the authorities reacted, coped and tried to regain some semblance of control over an event that still shocks to this very day.

Two other planes were also hijacked by Islamist terrorists on September 11th. One crashed into the side of the Pentagon, while a fourth crashed into a field in Pennsylvania after passengers fought the terrorists on board.
The new 9/11 documentary is just one of many factual TV series heading to ITV later this year.
Fred and Rose West: Reopened presents dramatic new evidence that identifies possible victims, and leads the team to locations where Fred and Rose West might have buried more bodies.

Elsewhere, Killing of PC Harper: A Wife’s Story features Lissie Harper, whose husband PC Andrew Harper was killed in a crime that sent shockwaves across the country. The widow will be sharing in depth for the first time the story of her journey for justice.
9/11: Life Under Attack will air later this year on ITV.
