Gavin And Stacey Star Finally Opens Up On Uncle Bryn's Sexuality

Rob Brydon has spoken about his Gavin and Stacey character, Uncle Bryn.

Rob Brydon has spoken out about his Gavin and Stacey character, Uncle Bryn's sexuality.

When asked if his character is gay, Rob explained that while creators James Corden and Ruth Jones have never specifically said, he would be 'surprised' if he wasn't.

“There's a part of me that doesn't want to say anything because I think it should be in the mind of the audience," Rob said on the Table Manners podcast.

“Obviously they have written it... but it's not ambiguous is it. I'd be surprised if he wasn't. I wonder if he's just never acted on it. They've never said to me… it's just what's there in the script.

“... But, you know, the way he gazes at Larry Lamb, who plays Mick…”

The mysterious and much-discussed fishing trip - which took place before the series began - fuelled speculation further over the years.

Fans will know that the notorious fishing trip is a running joke on the show, between Bryn and Jason. Nobody seems to know exactly what happened on the trip, as it's never actually explained, but both men seem very embarrassed over the secret details.

Over the years, it's been referred to several times, and all we do know is that - they were on their knees; they did it because they were cold; it's legal in the UK; it defies the law of gravity, and it's something to do with soup.

Rob has since spoken out about the trip - and not even he knows what the pair got up to.

"That bloody fishing trip, it haunts me," he said at Carfest.

"Look I don’t know, all I know are the clues that are in the show: It was very cold, it defied gravity, and it’s legal in some countries."

Will we ever find out what actually happened on that fishing trip?!
