One fan on TikTok believes Edward, who is played by Sam Palladio, was 'green screened' into his scenes.

Sharing a compilation of Edward's scenes from the new film, TikToker Zoe Coxon put forward her theory explaining why she thinks Edward 'wasn't actually there in the third Princess Switch movie.'

The scenes in question show Edward and Stacy (Vanessa Hudgens) standing next to each other or Edward by himself during group scenes such as breakfast or when the unlikely team are hatching a plan to get the stolen jewel back.

But Zoe believes something fishy is happening right before our eyes. “He never sits down,” she says in the on-screen captions.

“He can’t be seen in wide shots,” she adds.

And finally, “The lighting feels off”.

The TikTok has received more than 2.1 million views so far and it seems lots of other Princess Switch fans are in agreement.

“I THOUGHT THIS!!!! I was like why has he got a green screen look to him,” one fan replied in the comment section.

“Yeah that’s all green screen/there’s a harshness to his lighting. I bet it’s Covid reasons,” another fan theorised.

A third person wrote: “Yes, I thought I am the only one seeing this.”

And a fourth TikTok user said: “DUDE I’M WATCHING IT RIGHT NOW AND I STARTED THINKING THE SAME THING AT THE BEGINNING WHEN THEY WERE OUTSIDE.”

Tyla has contacted Netflix for comment.

One obvious reason that could explain the 'green screen' effect viewers can see in the film is due to star Vanessa Hudgens playing three roles.

Queen Margaret, Princess Stacy and Margaret's cousin Fiona, are all portrayed by Vanessa, become entangled in a jewel heist in the third film, which viewers have hailed a 'masterpiece'.

Princess Switch 3: Romancing the Star is available on Netflix now.
