Ever since Kate Winslet's acclaimed crime drama Mare of Easttown came to an end in May, fans have been begging for more episodes.
Although a second season has yet to be confirmed or strictly ruled out, fans have been waiting at their edge of their seats for news about the future of the show.
Now, Kate Winslet, who played detective Mare Sheehan has given viewers a glimmer of hope by admitting that a second season is an 'ongoing conversation.'

“I would love to play her again, I absolutely believe there’s more chapters to her story,” the Oscar winning actress told Deadline.
“However, just because the story has touched people that doesn’t necessarily mean creatively we can do it again. But it doesn’t mean closing doors; we’re opening doors, exploring what’s behind the doors.”
Winslet said viewers related to Mare, who she dubbed a "middle-aged heroine" and the working-town setting of Easttown, Pennsylvania. She felt “honoured and excited” when creator Brad Ingelsby asked her to play the lead role.
Mare is a divorced detective who investigates the murder of teenage mum and unravels a mystery surrounding the disappearance of another. After losing her son to suicide, Mare becomes entangled in a custody battle with her grandson’s mother who is a former heroin addict.

She added: "This woman who dealt with this palpable grief, trying to get through each day; she put everyone else first. She puts herself absolutely last.
"Even though she makes reprehensible choices through the series, we ultimately forgive her for these mistakes because of how compassionate she is. It was a huge juggling act from day one."
Mare of Easttown received 16 Emmy nominations on Tuesday, including a nod for Outstanding limited or anthology series. Winslet was recognised in the lead actress limited series category. Her co-stars Julianne Nicholson, Jean Smart and Evan Peters also received nominations.
