Love Island: Liberty Reveals Reason Behind Her 'Awkward' TV Appearance With Jake

Love Island: Liberty Reveals Reason Behind Her 'Awkward' TV Appearance With Jake

So that’s all cleared up, then.

Love Island may be over for another year, but there’s still so much drama to unpack following the finale.

While they were coupled up from day one and hot favourites to take the £50,000 prize money, Liberty Poole and Jake Cornish stunned viewers at home when they simply decided to split and leave the villa just days ahead of the final.

You can watch Liberty’s most recent interview here.

Of course, their break-up was the talk of television, with the pair then being forced to down a round of press interviews explaining their feelings.

And while some were left taken aback about how chilly the pair seemed towards each other when chatting on screen, Liberty has cleared up any confusion.

Speaking on Capital Breakfast with Rob Howard and Lauren Layfield, Liberty explained that the pair were shoved in front of cameras before getting a chance to talk to each other beforehand.

Obviously you might have seen the awkward TV interview, that’s because we hadn’t spoke to each other at all after breaking up and to then go on TV…” she explained, while the hosts gasped about the sheer horror of the situation.

“So that’s why it was a bit obviously awkward on them TV shows. Obviously we’ve spoken since and we’re just friends at the moment, there’s no animosity between us. It’s just, I think I did the right decision for me at the time and I’m happy with my decision. Obviously there’s no bad blood between us.

It’s not the best, being on [TV] with your ex, I’m not gonna lie!”

However, Liberty’s split with Jake hasn’t at all impacted her popularity, with the star saying she’s been left ‘overwhelmed’ by the messages of support she’d received from fans.

“I’ve had so many young girls popping up to me saying ‘you’re my role model, you’ve taught me self love’. It’s been amazing.

We’re all rooting for you, Lib!
