Love Island: Jake's Bathroom Moment Broke One Very Big Love Island Rule

Jake Cornish removed his mic after being confronted about his feelings for Liberty Poole.

Love Island fans were left shook after Sunday night's episode as Jake Cornish removed his mic and stormed out of the villa after fellow Islanders Faye Winter and Chloe Burrows questioned his sincerity for girlfriend Liberty Poole.

The student and waitress from Birmingham pulled the girls for a chat after Jake told her he loved her, but Faye and Chloe were not convinced Jake was being genuine.

After Jake heard about this through Toby Aromolaran, he stormed off into the toilets with the social media footballer following closely behind him.

Concerned by his reaction, Toby tells Jake from the other side of the closed bathroom door: "I'm just going to sit outside here, yeah? Is that cool?"

A few seconds later, Jake emerges without his mic and shirt, telling Toby: "I got to get out of this place."

He then exits the villa through the front door to cool down.

Winter Love Island contestant Shaughna Phillips took to Twitter after watching the heated scenes to express her shock after seeing Jake's reaction.

"OH SH*T HE TOOK HIS MIC OFF????? THE PRODUCERS ARE SCRAMBLING #loveIsland," she tweeted on Sunday night during the episode.

Fans of the show started asking Shaughna more about the rule break and the consequences for removing your mic when in the villa.

One viewer asked: "Is it panic stations when islanders do that?"

Shaughna replied: "Omg 10000 per cent! You’re absolutely not allowed to do that! I would only do it in protest or when I wanted a cigarette and they were ignoring my request."

Another fan tweeted and asked how producers respond if an Islander removes their mic. Shaughna tweeted back: "Either someone comes to you or they tell you over the tannoy."

Tyla has contacted Love Island for comment.
