GMB Viewers Lose It At Kate Garraway's Cheeky Jab At Downing Street 'Christmas Party'

GMB Viewers Lose It At Kate Garraway's Cheeky Jab At Downing Street 'Christmas Party'

Kate had a cheeky jibe during Friday's GMB.

Good Morning Britain viewers were loving presenter Kate Garraway's cheeky jibe at the government on Friday, after she revealed the show's Christmas party had been cancelled.

Kate, 54, was presenting GMB with Adil Ray, and explained that they had made the decision not to go ahead with the festivities, due to the rising rates of the Omicron variant.

There was also a slightly awks moment in which Adil claimed he hadn't been invited to the GMB Christmas party.

"The big news this morning is that our Christmas party is cancelled. The presenters' Christmas party is cancelled," said Kate.

Adil joked: "I wasn’t invited anyway."

"Yes you were, you just don’t read your emails," said Kate.

Adil then went on to tell Kate to "dig that hole" with Kate adding: "It's not my Christmas party! I saw you on the list! I know you're invited."

Kate's comments were made in the midst of what has been a chaotic week for prime minister Boris Johnson and in relation to a video leaked online earlier this week.

The video was taken on 22nd December last year and showed Boris Johnson's then press secretary, Allegra Stratton, and other colleagues rehearsing for a news conference where they joked about a 'Christmas party' at Number 10.

"I've just seen reports on Twitter that there was a Downing Street Christmas party on Friday night," one asked.

Laughing, Allegra says: "I went home, hold on, hold on, err..."

"It wasn't a party it was cheese and wine," said another.

Allegra responded: "Is cheese and wine alright? It was a business meeting... This fictional party was a business meeting [laughs]... and it was not socially distanced."

Allegra has now resigned from her role, issuing a statement earlier in the week.

Not only has Boris been slammed for fresh allegations over several other alleged Christmas parties that took place last year, while Covid restrictions were in place, the PM has also been accused of lying about his Downing Street flat refurb this week.

The Electoral Commission fined the Conservatives £17,800 for failing to report how money was spent on interiors costing £112,549.

He's also facing backlash over the newly imposed Plan B restrictions, and, added to that, wife Carrie Johnson gave birth to the couple's second child, a daughter, on Thursday.
