This Terrifying Home Alone Theory Will Change Your Opinion On Film

This has ruined our childhoods!

Home Alone is the ultimate classic Christmas film, but some fans have come up with a disturbing theory about main character Kevin McCallister and it could ruin your childhood.

To recap in case you've not watched it recently, Home Alone focuses on Kevin (played by Macaulay Culkin), whose family accidentally leave him behind when they jet off to Paris for Christmas.

When Kevin wakes up alone after his family have rushed off to the airport, he thinks it's his fault - after all, just hours before he had wished his entire family would disappear in the heat of an argument.

Of course, Kevin's mum and dad soon realise they've forgotten their son - but only while on the plane to Paris - and the next few days sees the family doing everything they can to get home.

Meanwhile, Kevin is alone, and having to protect his home from two burglars, Marv and Harry, who have been plotting to break in while the family are away.

This involved setting a number of horrifying traps to catch the pair, including burning Marv's hand, dropping an iron on his head and burning Harry's scalp with a blowtorch.

And Kevin finds it hilarious. So hilarious in fact, that some fans on Reddit think his behaviour is eerily similar to Saw's Jigsaw, who also enjoys torturing his victims.

In fact, fans think the pair are so alike, many are convinced that Kevin grows up to be Jigsaw, aka John Kramer.

In one thread, one fan wrote: "In the Home Alone movies (specifically the first two) Culkin's character not only devises traps to hurt the guys trying to break in but also seems to get quite a rush whenever they actually got hurt.

"As he got older it got more and more exciting whenever he would find some new way to get someone hurt. Sometime in early adulthood he accidentally killed someone.

"But instead of stopping and feeling guilty about it, he got the ultimate rush. He started killing more and as a way of eliminating any guilt he might possibly get, convinced himself it was to teach people to appreciate life."

Meanwhile, another person wrote in a separate thread: "For me it's totally plausible. Kevin = Jigsaw both make intricate traps both are homicidal both have anger issues the bear trap from saw looks like the furnace in Kevin's basement. Jigsaw has a room that looks like Kevin's basement Jigsaw has a furnace trap playing off of Kevin's fear [they] look similar."

Co-creator of Saw, James Wan, has previously responded to the theory, explaining the similarities were not intentional.

He told Huffington Post: "I should've known all along that Macaulay Culkin would grow up to be John Kramer. I think it's awesome.

"I'm very flattered that people take the time to have fun with all these fan theories."
