People Are Just Finding Great British Bake Off Has Different Name In States

How did we never know this!

Did you know that Great British Bake Off has a different name in the US? Nope, us neither!

The baking show, which has just hit its fifth series, is also aired in the States, but under a completely different name.

Yep, across the pond, it's called The Great British Baking Show instead. But why does it have a different name?

Well, there's a pretty simple explanation. It's all to do with a copyright issue.

Over in America, there's already a copyright on 'Bake Off', so essentially, no other show can use it. The name was taken by producers Pillsbury, who ran a 'Pillsbury Bake Off' competition, created in 1949.

It's been popular in the States for decades, and is often shown on the Food Network.

The fifth series of GBBO returned to our screens last month and we've been hooked to it each week since.

This week, during bread week, Rochica unfortunately ended up being the third baker to be eliminated from the tent, after failing to impress with her milk-bread - inspired by a bird - and her ciabatta breadsticks in the technical challenge.

Her elimination comes after Tom and Jairzinho, who were booted from the show in episodes one and two.

While many agreed with Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood's decision, others weren't so convinced it was Rochica's time to go.

Maggie also had a tough week, being told her focaccia was too 'soft on top' thanks to all the toppings on it, and also failing to knock up the perfect milk bread.

Speaking after her elimination, Rochica said: "It's come to an end but I have really really enjoyed it.

"Not everybody gets to bake in the Bake Off tent and I'm proud of where I've got to."

The Great British Bake Off continues on Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
