Firefly Lane Season 2 Is Officially In Production

The hit Netflix series Firefly Lane is now officially in production, and set to air in 2022. Fans of the show can expect to see Tully and Kate back on their screens next year for the second season of the coming of age friendship drama.

The second season of the show was confirmed back in May, but the filming is now officially underway. Fans of the show were ecstatic that actresses Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke would be reuniting as the adult versions of Kate and Tully, who are finding their way in life post-divorce and other dramas.

The confirmation that filming had started came via Katherine's Instagram. The star leaked a photo with the caption: "So I am in the wonderful city of Vancouver busy filming the second season of #FireflyLane Yay! Look out for it coming your way on @netflix in 2022!"

According to Netflix, Firefly Lane pulled in 49 million worldwide viewers in just its first 28 days. The first season spanned across 10 episodes, which jump between the early days of their friendship in the 1970s, to their college years during the 1980s, to their midlife crises in the early 2000s.

Avid fans of the show will remember the cliffhanger ending of the first season, and will be eager to see if the second season will provide answers.

The first series seemingly was going to end with Tully and Kate having rebuilt their friendship to be stronger than ever. However, in the final moments viewers witnessed a confrontation that would blow that friendship apart.

Whilst the first season of the show follows the novel from author Kristin Hannah, but it had some changes. As the series deviates away from the book, it has left viewers wondering what the second season will have in store.

Fans of the show have already shared their excitement about the series on Twitter. One user wrote: "Absolutely bring on 2022."

Another shared: "Can’t wait to watch new series of Firefly Lane. I miss the characters, their stories, going through decades of fashion and cool music but most of all I miss the incredible acting of all the people who made this show so special."

The first season of Firefly Lane is available on Netflix now, with the second season airing in 2022.
