Fans of true crime dramas like ITV's Broadchurch are in for a treat with the latest drama landing on Sky in January.

Mass is set to air from the 20th January and will be released in both cinemas and on Sky Cinema.

With a stellar cast including The Handmaid's Tale Ann Dowd and House of Cards Reed Birley alongside The Goonies Martha Plimpton, the film is set to captivate viewers.

The feature film tells the story of two sets of parents, who years after an unspeakable tragedy tore their lives apart, agree to talk privately in an attempt to move forward.

The storyline is expected to be a hit with fans of dramas such as Broadchurch as it focuses on how the families are reeling from the loss of a beloved child, whilst also revealing the chilling stories of how they died.

The deaths are described as 'violent tragedies', and viewers should expect to reach for the tissues as the grief of both couples is shown on screen.

The film has already received international critical acclaim following its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year.

The feature film was filmed within 14 days, with much of it shot within the same set.

The renowned cast has already been praised with critics calling out Ann Dowd's performance as Linda alongside on-screen husband Richard (played by Reed Birney). The pair star opposite couple Gail and Jay played by Martha Plimpton and Jason Isaacs.

It's the first time actor Franz Kranz has taken the role of writer and director, and he's hopeful his stellar cast will do the film justice.

In a recent statement, he said: "I could not be more excited or proud to be working with Sky on the release of Mass in the UK and Ireland. While it’s a small and intimate film it grapples with large and urgent themes.

"The leading actors give four unforgettable performances of such emotional scale, and it all comes together in one very formidable experience. More than anything, I am honoured to share their work with the world."

Mass will be released in cinemas and on Sky Cinema from 20 January 2022.
