Bridgerton Fans Are 'Swooning' As Season 2 Release Date Announced

Bridgerton Fans Are 'Swooning' As Season 2 Release Date Announced

We are so ready!

An official release date has been confirmed for season two of Bridgerton and we couldn't be more thrilled!

Series creator Shonda Rhimes took fans by surprise on Christmas Day - one year after the series first premiered - to announce the show's long-awaited return.

Sharing a video to social media, Shonda had members of the cast read out a letter from Lady Whistledown who, of course, had the juicy details.

Watch the video here:

Accompanying the video, Shonda wrote: "Prepare the carriages, dear reader. #Bridgerton is back on March 25 2022!"

Read out by series stars like Golda Rosheuvel and Jonathan Bailey, the letter from Lady Whistledown herself said: "Happy anniversary to our buzzy ton. It is customary, for a first anniversary, to gift paper, dear readers. I do hope you find this one informative. Bridgerton returns March 25th."

Thanks to the series of eight books Julia Quinn that inspired the successful Netflix series, we can already predict what season 2 of Bridgerton will entail. Be warned: Mild spoilers ahead!

The second book in the series, titled The Viscount Who Loved Me, focuses on Anthony's intent to marry a Sheffield daughter, Edwina.

Anthony is convinced he should marry for duty, not love, after having his heart broken by Siena Rosso, the opera singer, and this leads to lots of drama.

Meanwhile, Edwina has an older half sister, Kate, who after hearing about Anthony's reputation as an utter rake, is desperate to put a stop to the match.

But after months of bickering, Anthony and Kate find themselves increasingly drawn to one another. Despite fighting their desire, in the end they simply cannot.

We are already sold!

We can't wait to see what season 2 of Bridgerton has in store. (

And as if that weren't enough, seasons 3 and 4 of Bridgerton have already been confirmed - meaning there are plenty more steamy scenes in store for the foreseeable!

While we were devastated to learn that season 1 star Regé-Jean Page would not be returning as the dreamy Duke of Hastings in season 2, Phoebe Dyvenor will be back as Daphne, as well as all of the other Bridgerton siblings.

Meanwhile, new cast members will include Charithra Chandran as Edwina Sharma, Shelley Conn as Mary Sharma, Calam Lynch as Theo Sharpe and Rupert Young as Jack.

How on earth are we going to wait another three months!?
