Amazon Studios has released a trailer for their new YA horror series, I Know What You Did Last Summer, a reboot of the 1997 slasher film with Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

The series will be a modern take on the movie, and will see a group of teenagers stalked by a mysterious killer a year after a fatal accident on graduation night, forcing them to spill their secrets or risk dying.

The show stars Madison Iseman, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, and Ashley Moore as the core group, with Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom, and Bill Heck as peripheral characters.

The trailer, set to Olivia Rodrigo's 'Brutal', sees the group preparing for their graduation. One teen says: "This graduation party is iconique," a slang phrase for iconic.

The trailer then takes on a dark and chilling tone, with the teens covering up their so-called accident: "No one will know what we did."

But, someone does know their dirty little secret and are intent on punishing and exposing them for their sins.

Both the film and the TV show will take their cue from the 1973 novel of the same name by Lois Duncan.

Though there is no further information about how many episodes the series will have, it will likely give the show runners a chance to further explore the story and the teenagers' individual lives in comparison to the feature film.

Albert Cheng, co-Head of Television at Amazon Studios, said: "The best horror franchises always have another scare coming, and this I Know What You Did Last Summer series for Sara Goodman is a perfectly twisted update to the iconic slasher movie."

"Anyway you slice it, our global Prime Video customers will love this modern take on the fan favourite film," he continued.

The new series will be available to stream on Amazon Prime on October 15. The series will stream exclusively on the platform in over 240 countries worldwide.
