The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle: Confused Viewers Spot Odd Detail About Amanda Holden's 'Nan' In New Documentary

Viewers think Amanda's 'nan' has a striking resemblance to a certain comedian known for playing a character with a citrus surname....

Viewers tuned in for what they assumed would be a touching documentary starring Amanda Holden and her nan on Tuesday night, but some people noticed a very unusual detail which left people baffled.

The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle showcases the TV presenter and radio host’s unique relationship with her nan, who moves into her London home with her two daughters.

However, viewers soon realised the programme is actually a "mockumentary" which led to lots of speculation on social media about Myrtle's true identity - comedian Leigh Francis aka Keith Lemon.

Francis confirmed his new alter ego on Twitter shortly before the The Holden Girls aired.

Just in case viewers were fully convinced by Leigh's prosthetics, he is credited on the show's official IMDB page and his name is featured in the E4 show's end credits alongside Amanda's.

Fans took to Twitter after cracking the case. "Is it her nan or Keith Lemon?#mandyandmyrtle #holdengirls," one viewer tweeted.

Another person shared: "Just flicked on to the Holden girls on C4. Something ain't right. I'm certain Amanda Holden's 'nan' is really Keith Lemon aka Bo selecta in drag."

A third couch detective wrote: "I am convinced that Amanda Holdens Nan is Keith Lemon. Convince me otherwise."

While a fourth Twitter user said: "Ere is this Amanda Holdens nan Leigh Francis?"

To confuse viewers into thinking the spoof documentary is actually real, Amanda’s real husband Chris and daughters Alexa, 15, and Hollie, nine, make cameo appearances.

The Holden Girls: Mandy & Myrtle is written by Jamie Deeks and Dan Johnston and will consist of eight half-hour episodes.
