Alec Baldwin has been met with significant backlash after breaking his silence on Twitter.
The actor, who accidentally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of closed Western film Rust, has 'not been ruled out' as a person of interest within the ongoing investigation.
Twitter users were disappointed to see Baldwin engaging in public debate during the aftermath of the shooting, with some claiming it to be 'too soon'.
The actor, who has one million followers on the platform, shared his thoughts on the West Virginia Senator's future in politics. Joe Manchin is currently a member of the Democratic Party, under current President Joe Biden.

Baldwin tweeted: "Manchin will either primary Biden or switch parties and run as a Republican".
While some appreciated the actor and producer's contribution to current political commentary, the general consensus seemed to be that this was 'too soon'.
One user stated: "this should be a mourning time for Halyna. Better give yourself a break from social media. Thoughts and prayers".
Other Twitter users criticised the star for tweeting at all. "Already Tweeting about politics", one said. "Maybe take a step back and stay back for a while. Most of us who have deeply mourned don't take time out to Tweet".

Since the Tweet was posted, Baldwin has made his account private.
The actor has already made a statement regarding his feelings on the tragic turn of events.
"[Hutchins] was my friend", he said. He also stated that he took her and injured assistant director Joel Souza to dinner on the first day of filming.
Hutchins was fatally shot after a loaded gun passed through several hands during rehearsal. Baldwin was working out his positioning for a shootout scene when the .45 calibre rifle discharged. The cinematographer was hit in the chest, while Souza was wounded in his right arm.
